17 Landing Page Tactics To Capture More Clients

Landing pages have been around for some time now but I had no idea (and I’m guessing you didn’t either) how important they are to conversion.  Today we’ll cover 17 different tactics on how to use landing pages and grow your conversions.  Landing pages that are particularly effective when combined with a PPC (Pay Per Click) SEM (search engine marketing) plan.

  1. Have more landing pages – Research suggests that having more than 10 landing pages will net you 50% more signups!
  2. Each Landing Page needs to be 90% unique – Most of the time when we think about A/B testing we think of small changes, but not true, each one needs to be significantly different, at least at first.
  3. Target Different Audiences – you might think that at first it would be difficult to come up with 10 different landing pages that are 90% different, but if you’re going after different audiences then it makes it a bit easier.
  4. Use Different USP (Unique Sales Propositions) – AKA – Use different offers.
  5. Remove distracting links – a landing page by design is for conversion.  Your side-bar and even header menu (not to mention the footer) can sometimes cause a distraction and make your conversions go down.
  6. Test Minimal Landing Pages first (see above)
  7. Know What A Real Lead Is! –  Know what you want before making a landing page
  8. Everyone Reads “F”  –  Users Read in an F pattern on your pages,  the left and top and top right are the best places for call to action.
  9. Repeat Your Call To Action Twice
  10. Use Testimonials – Social Proof is huge.
  11. Say “NO” to Coupons – When you have a coupon field on your checkout you cause people to search the internet for that coupon and they may never come back.
  12. Use Exit Intent Popups – When a user is getting ready to “bounce”  (aka leave the site) give them an offer before they go.
    • Thrive Themes has this built in
    • Hello Bar is a popular plugin for this as well.
  13. Add Bonus PDF – Must have perceived Value – On your popups make sure you’re offering something with value!
  14. Live Chat is Expected, so add it.
  15. People Prefer 2 separate Items vs 1 combo items.  The example is that people prefer muffins and cookies, but not cookies with muffins.
  16. Use A Progress Bar on Long Forms
  17. Instead of Coupons – Apply a “discount” to every purchase.

Bonus Growth Hack – Once you got all those emails and time has passed you’ll have some unengaged users.   Start a re-engagment campaign just for them! They work!
